We talk to Thomas Bailey, 20, who is the web development lead at Wing Mirror Man about his experiences of completing an apprenticeship.
Why did you choose an apprenticeship versus going to university?
I wanted to earn. I like to earn whilst I learn. I decided to do the apprenticeship because I was interested in the course associated with the apprenticeship and I knew I would enjoy the course. It was in digital marketing and was a NVQ Level 3. Interestingly, whilst I was at school and Sixth Form college there was very little information about apprenticeships. Both school and Sixth Form college wanted to talk about opportunities to go to university most of the time but I never really felt I wanted to go to university. Even at 16 I wanted to do an apprenticeship and tried to start one. However, that fell through and I ended up doing two years of A Levels which I didn't particularly enjoy but I felt that it was at least a qualification that I ended up achieving -

We are delighted to announce that we are taking part in a scheme with Bury College to give 5 young people valuable work experience whilst they study.
We have committed to taking on 5, 16 to 18-year-old students from the college over the period of two academic years to give them an insight into, and experience of, the world of work whilst they undertake a two-year T Level qualification.
The work placements are for one day a week and each student is treated as an employee and asked to carry out, under supervision, a range of work activities. The work placements are part of a national scheme called T Levels which follow GCSEs and are equivalent to 3 A levels. These 2-year courses, which were launched in September 2020, have been developed, says the Government, ‘in collaboration with employers and education providers so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work, further training, or further study’.

Everything there is to know about our paint service…
Unless you have been living under a rock for the better part of a decade, you’ve probably noticed by now that the cars on our roads are getting flashier and fancier each year. This is probably due to the ever increasing demand for more sophisticated, luxurious and more powerful machines to get us about.
The most popular method of sprucing up a car is most obviously touching up the exterior, car manufacturers absolutely love adding touches of chrome wherever they can and they have become overly confident in the use of bright, exotic colours to match.
An extremely popular addition to cars over the past couple of decades is to paint the wing mirrors; whilst a simple change, it makes a huge difference to an area of the vehicle we always look at. Gone are the days where wing mirrors were an unsightly lump of black plastic hanging off the side of your stunningly elegant BMW E36 or MK1 Volkswagen Golf.

February 03, 2022 24Tip#1: Drive a car with heated glass technology and fully working indicators
What is heated glass technology?
Hate those mornings when it’s bitterly cold and your front windscreen is covered in ice or sleet as you go out to the car to go to work?
Sick of having to try to fish out a can of de-icer which has fallen under one of the seats or have to go back inside and get a kettle of water to put over the windscreen?
